GCU Softball Out of Conference Schedule Wrapping Up
The GCU Softball team has bounced back after the tough showing at the Mary Nutter Cathedral Classic, going 0–5 losing to Stanford, Arkansas, UC-Riverside, Syracuse, and #5 UCLA. They lost these 5 games by a combined 12 runs, and losing the last 3 games by 1.
They are 9–2 since those three tough days in California, and have the tail end of conference play ahead. Including a double header today at home @ 1 PM and 3 PM (If you miss the 1, go to the 3) against Valpo.
This weekend, March 9–12, the Ladies host the GCU Invitational featuring Georgetown, Iowa and Minnesota.
Friday- is a double header vs. the Hoyas of Georgetown at 5 & 7 PM. The Hoyas are 5–12 overall, and will have already played in Tempe and the Devils of the Sun tomorrow. Expect some dubs on Friday night.
Saturday- they have a double header, featuring both the Hawkeyes and Golden Gophers. The ladies, I assume since they are hosting, get the chance to play both teams after they have played a game that day already. 1:30 PM vs Iowa and 6:30 vs Minnesota. Both Iowa and Minnesota will have played Georgetown before matching up with us, giving us the upper hand.
Sunday- The ladies have the Hawkeyes at 11:30, and then rest up and play them for a third time on Monday- at 7 PM.
After hosting this weekend’s tournament, the Lady Lopes have the Easton Invitational and Utah to wrap up out of conference play. The ladies do have U of A on the schedule May 5,6, but that is down in Tuscon.
If the Lopes take 5/6 this weekend, they may be destined for greatness, and it is the last tournament that GCU hosts, so get out and support the girls if you aren’t going out of town like myself for Vegas.
